Successes

The 2026 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS) served the youngest of the Our Place crew, Zoë Gurley, well. Although she didn’t lead a bull, heifer or steer across the green shavings, she did lead four steers off of our trailer Sunday, July 12 in Louisville, KY and sent them over the scales for processing by American Angus Association Regional Managers and then onto a cattle hauler, which took all entries in the 2026 NJAS Carcass Steer contest to the Tyson’s Hillsdale, IL packing plant for harvest.

The calves represented her herd here at Our Place Angus, and the results were humbling.

All four steers had carcasses with Quality grades of Prime or Choice and three met the coveted Certified Angus Beef standards.

Zoë and her #1 Mentor and Mom, Minnie Roberts, put a lot of hard work and effort into the year-long process of handling and feeding those calves.

As the fifth-generation Angus breeder in our family, Zoë also exhibited the Grand Champion Bred & Owned Carcass Steer in 2024! Needless to say, she plays an integral role at Our Place Angus.
